Thieves are stealing old style Ford Fiestas in part of Sussex.
Around ten of the cars have been taken from the Arun district in the last few weeks with two being found burnt out.
Police are now warning owners of the cars to make sure they are properly locked up.
A spokesman for Sussex Police added: "Do not be offended if you are stopped by police if you are driving a Fiesta as police will be stepping up stop checks in an effort to apprehend and arrest those responsible."
A reward of £500 has been offered by the force for anyone who can offer information about the thefts which leads to an arrest.
