Cliff Wright, the man who first brought Harry Potter's owl Hedwig and the Weasley's clapped-out Ford Anglia to 2D life, heads up Brighton's monthly creative schmooze-fest, The Space.

As an illustrator Wright is best-known for creating the covers of the second and third Harry Potter books, The Chamber of Secrets and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

He famously refused to illustrate the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, after Bloomsbury lost his original cover artwork for its predecessor and it disappeared into the ether.

Rumour has it the missing illustration ended up on the black market, but Wright probably won't be chatting about that on Tuesday night. Instead, expect talk of his 17 years as a successful illustrator, high-profile ad campaigns for the likes of Greenpeace and Ikea and the living sculpture he's just created with Kathryn Jordan. The piece, In Our Hands, will be unveiled outside St Peter's Church, London Road, on Thursday.

Nick Dodds, director of the Brighton Dome and the Brighton Festival, will discuss the Dome's commitment to bringing the best in international arts to the South East. He'll then be swapping hats to talk about May's Brighton Festival, the biggest event of its kind in England.

Now in its fifth decade, it's one of the big dates in the cultural calendar and hauls in an international mix of exclusive events, premieres and endless hours of entertainment.

On the schmoozing front there's Jessica Freeman of media recruitment agency Career Moves. She'll be charting the agency's rise from its launch 20 years ago as an independent recruitment consultancy for media bods.

There'll also be music from Worthingbased singer/songwriter Chris Simmons and a chance to win tickets to one of the Brighton Festival highlights - King Naat Veliov and the Original Kocani Orkestar. For Potter fans there's also a signed and framed print of the cover illustration of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban up for grabs.
