A man has appeared in court charged with shooting his wife dead at their country home.
Edward Edrich, 59, was arrested after her body was discovered at the £575,000 Grade II listed house.
Claire Edrich's body was found in an armchair at the four-bedroom detached house in Poles Lane, Lowfield Heath, near Crawley.
Detectives discovered Mrs Edrich, 55, had a large shotgun wound to the throat when they were called to the house on January 30.
Edrich appeared at Lewes Crown Court for a case management hearing yesterday.
Wearing a grey tweed jacket, blue shirt and grey jumper, Edrich said nothing during the hearing.
He is expected to enter a plea when the case is reviewed again on May 14.
Judge Richard Brown adjourned the hearing until then for psychiatric reports to be prepared.
