A MAN was kidnapped from his home and driven to a field where his attackers cut his thumbs off in a “terrifying ordeal”.

Sussex Police are hunting two men after the victim was abandoned in a field with the serious injuries to his hands after they removed both of his thumbs.

The two attackers went to the 36-year-old man’s home in Earl Street, Hastings, at about 10am on Friday where they forced him to get into a silver BMW with them.

They then drove him to a field near Salehurst, near Robertsbridge, where they cut off their victims thumbs and also left him with a number of “nasty” cuts to his hands.

They abandoned the man in the field who was then forced to walk to a nearby home in order to raise the alarm and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives believe the attackers did not break into the property and they were known to the victim.

However cops say they are unsure what the motive was and appealing for any information about the attack.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the BMW in Earl Street or the man being driven between there and Salehurst.

Detective Constable Nick O'Shaughnessy said: "We believe this was a targeted attack on the victim although it is not clear what the motive was. We need to speak to anyone who has any information about what happened.

"It must have been a terrifying ordeal for the victim and we are determined to find the men responsible.

"We need the public's help to identify and track down the men involved in what was an extremely rare incident. If you saw or heard anything at all, please contact us."
