AN UNLUCKY speed camera has taken another battering five years on from an unwanted brush with fame.
The speed camera in Kingsway, Hove, was looking worse for wear after a white Vauxhall Astra travelling westbound spun off the road at about 5.55am on Sunday and crashed into the roadside barrier.
The driver was taken to Worthing Hospital for treatment to a cut head after severely damaging the rear of his car.
A 28-year-old man from Shoreham was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a breath test.
The same camera was famously floored in December 2010 when musician Nick Cave crashed his Jaguar in the road, causing thousands of pounds of damage.
Road safety campaigners said that in the two months it took to repair the camera five years ago, motorists took advantage by clocking speeds of more than 50 mph along the 30 mph stretch.
Anyone with information on the new incident is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 313 of May 31.
