YEARS ago March for England supporters mistook Brighton Pavilion for a mosque, now claims of emerged the Labour Party might have taken to this to heart.
The party have dismissed claims made by political analysts that one of Ed Milliband’s aides insisted they cancel a photoshoot outside the iconic building in case voters might mistake it for a mosque.
A spokesman for the party said the only comment they could make on the claim is “this is nonsense”.
The claims were made by reporters Rachel Sylvester and Michael Savage in a four page analysis of the Labour party on the campaign trail in yesterday’s Times.
The pair said Labour had become so hung up on the issue of immigration it caused this moment which could have lifted from BBC political comedy The Thick of It.
The full extract read: “There was at times almost comical neurosis about the issue: in a moment straight out of The Thick of It, a planned photo call with the leader in front of the Brighton Pavilion was dropped because an aide feared voters might think it was a mosque.”
