Nine more motorists have been charged with drink and drug driving offences.

They include Daniel Foster, 25, of Mulberry Lane, Worthing, who was arrested at 1.10am on Saturday after officers stopped his car in South Street, Tarring, because it did not appear to have a valid MOT. Foster was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court on June 30.

Elsewhere, Liam Cooper, 20, was arrested at 2.40am on Saturday after officers stopped his car on the A22 on suspicion he had no insurance. Cooper, of Mount Pleasant, Crowborough, was charged with drink-driving, taking a vehicle without consent, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on June 29.

Samuel Doman, 24, was arrested at 4am on Saturday after his car almost hit a police patrol car in Offington gardens, Worthing.

Doman, of Nepcote, Findon, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court on June 30.

Lynn-Marie Pheasant, 40, was also arrested at 8.30pm on Saturday in Hillside Avenue, Seaford, after officers were tipped off that a woman who appeared drunk had driven away from a takeaway.

Pheasant, of Willow Drive, Seaford, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on June 29.

Luke Wood, 23, was arrested at 5.15am on Sunday after he was stopped in Grand Parade, Brighton, because one of his car lights was not working.

Wood, of Shelldale Crescent, Portslade, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on June 29.

A total of 55 people have so far been charged with offences as part of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police's June drink and drug-driving operation.
