The service is continuing to investigate another serious fire on the same day in Gloucester Road, Brighton.

It is expected to take several days while investigators gather information and examine the scene. It is believed that the fire started in one corner of the roof above Bathstore and wooden decking caught alight at 17.36.

DC Kerri Bartup of Sussex Police said: "We are in the initial stages of establishing how the fire started and appealing to anyone who might have been in the area and seen anything suspicious. It was a busy time in the evening and is just off a busy road where people might have seen someone acting strangely in the area. Anyone with information which might help is asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1275 of 11/06."
