AN UNSIGNED band have lived the rock ‘n’ roll dream after being flown to Dubai to play a major festival.

Red Emperor, of Brighton, are more used to the sticky floors and cramped upstairs rooms of pubs.

However, the indie rockers got their big break when a booking manager from the Blended Festival in Dubai saw the video for their single Kink in Your Soul on social media.

Impressed with the band’s sound, they flew them out and out them up in a house in Dubai.

Band members told The Argus of the adrenaline rush they got in appearing on the same bill with Kasabian and Craig David.

Bassist, Ollie Horner, 23, said: “It felt incredible having all those people come up to us and say how much they enjoyed our set. A group of girls were shaking when they spoke to us – only rock stars get that kind of reaction.”

The festival was by far their biggest ever gig.

Lead singer Charlie Herridge, 20, said: “Hopefully the opportunity is a sign of more to come.

“We have a couple of new singles coming out over the next few months, including a video shot in Dubai. We’ve got big plans in the pipeline but who knows where we’ll end up next.”

One of the greatest moments in Dubai, all the band agree, was seeing Kasabian play.

Drummer Navraj Manku, 20, said: “We saw Kasabian sound-check their entire set the night before the festival started. It felt like our own private gig.”

The band were also invited to glitzy star-studded after parties and mingled with musical legends.

Mr Herridge added: “Craig David was incredibly down to earth and welcoming. He offered us loads of advice and very valuable words of wisdom.”

VIP treatment was laid on by festival organisers and the band had an artist cabin near Kasabian’s.

Mr Herridge said: “We were treated like royalty and respected as much as every other artist performing. We even had personal assistants – really cool guys. They enjoyed hanging out with us as we weren’t as demanding as the other artists.”

Mr Manku added: “We will keep busy this summer, playing around the South Coast.”
