FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning after they were called to a dog locked inside a car on a hot day.

The crew from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene on Carden Avenue, Brighton, on Saturday after a dog had been seen locked inside a car at 1.55pm.

However when crews arrived on the scene the owner of the dog had been found and the animal was released.

The fire service issued advice to the owner about the dangers of leaving pets in hot cars.

The RSPCA urge people to never leave dogs alone in cars on a warm day as even at outside temperatures of around 22 degrees car interiors can reach 47 degrees within the hour.
