A MOTORCYCLIST died after crashing with a car this morning.

The 61-year-old man from Hastings died at the scene of the accident on the A259 Main Road in Icklesham. He collided with a silver Ford Focus while riding his blue Triumph Legend bike at around 10.15am. The East Sussex coroner has been informed.

The car driver, a 53-year-old man from Dartford, in Kent, and his passenger, a 51-year-old woman, were taken to the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards with minor injuries.

The A259 was closed between North Lane, Guestling Thorn, and Laurel Lane, Icklesham, for more than four hours while emergency services were at the scene.

Sergeant Neil Walker, of the Sussex road policing unit, thanked motorists for their patience while the road was closed and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
