A TEENAGER has had her locks lopped off to help poorly children.
Megan Hayward, 16, had her waist-length hair chopped to the shoulders to donate it to the Princess Trust.
The charity provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Megan, from Bevendean, said: "I have had long hair for about six years - I had heard about doing this through a friend and thought I would like to do the same.
"I think it is really great the charity is able to help children with cancer; it is amazing for them."
She had her hair cut last week at Antonio Delgado Hairdressing in Baker Street, just off London Road, Brighton.
Megan, who is due to start at Lewes College in September, has also raised about £100 through sponsorship for the charity.
She said: "The hairdresser took me through what he was going to do, and he said he would just plait my hair and then it all happened really quickly. Then he just handed me the plait. It was amazing."
