There were reports of no water in Ringmer or St Leonards this morning on what is billed to be the hottest day of the year.
Several individuals raised concerns over a lack of water last night, referring to leaks in Glynde and a repaired main that burst in St Leonards on Monday.
Southern Water has said it restored supplies in St Leonards earlier this morning after an issue in Sedlescombe Road South in the town.
A spokeswoman said: "We apologise to customers in St Leonards who experienced a disruption to their water supply overnight and early this morning.
"This was due to a burst water main in Sedlescombe Road South.
"The water main was repaired by 6.30am and the supply was restored."
While Southern Water takes away waste water in Ringmer, South East Water deals with the supply of fresh water and was looking into the issue.
Southern Water has said a burst on a 10in diameter main happened at about 5.30pm yesterday on private land near Glynde.
Michael Phillips, distribution manager at South East Water, said: “We immediately sent a technician to investigate and locate the burst, but unfortunately while repairs were underway approximately 1,600 properties in the Glynde and Ringmer areas were without water.
“We repaired the water pipe by 9.40pm and then we carefully returned water back into the pipeline slowly to try to prevent pressure fluctuations which can result in another burst elsewhere.”
Full tap water supplies were restored to customers by 10.45pm last night.
Mr Phillips apologised for inconvenience during the repair work.
There was a further burst this morning in the Ringmer and Glynde area affecting three properties and the repair is now complete with water flowing again.
