A PRIVATE hospital has donated specialist equipment to help a charity in Africa.
A team from SeeKenya visited the Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital in Warren Road, Woodingdean, to take a closer look at the specialist microscope which can be used for cataract surgery. Hospital ophthalmic consultant Ed Hughes volunteers for the charity and goes abroad to operate on disadvantaged people who have poor vision because of cataracts.
Nuffield recently invested in new state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment and after talking to Mr Hughes about his charity work, bosses decided to donate its old microscope to SeeKenya.
SeeKenya works to reduce blindness and provides specialist treatment and eye care services in Kenya.
