MORE than half of British youngsters do not have a clue where Brighton is, according to a new survey.

When quizzed, 55 per cent of young Britons admitted that they do not know where Brighton is, with 20 per cent thinking it is in Cornwall and 11 per cent believing it is in Norfolk.

But the city’s tourist bosses need not despair because children fared no better when it came to pinpointing other seaside locations, with a fifth thinking Scarborough is in the Med and that Skegness is next to Loch Ness.

The study was conducted by Travelodge, which has more than 500 hotels across the UK. It quizzed 2,000 British children aged between eight and 15 years old.
