With regard to Siobhan Ryan's article "Diet blamed for rise in gaps and fillings" (The Argus, April 17), I do not think fluoridation is the answer to every parent's prayers.

The chemical that would be used is a toxic waste from the phosphate fertiliser industry and is an extremely hazardous substance which in these times of terrorism would require a police escort to say the least as it is so dangerous to the public health if spilled.

It cannot be dumped and it costs too much to dispose of legally so if companies can sell it to the Government for profit that's just great for them - but not for us.

Why should I be poisoned just because some children suffer from tooth decay?
