Albion have vowed to make cheeky Swansea chief Roberto Martinez eat his words by putting a spoke in the Welshmen's play-off bid.

The Spaniard believes today's clash at the Liberty Stadium against the struggling Seagulls "could be a four-point game" which the Swans win and also boost their goal difference.

That has riled the Albion camp in their quest to halt a hat-trick of defeats.

Nine-goal midfielder Dean Cox said: "He (Martinez) is obviously quite arrogant and very confident.

"I'll have to pass that around the team and let them know what he has been saying. That is taking the mickey out of us.

"There will be a big crowd, because they are doing well, and it is a decent stadium, but if they are going to be over-confident we have got a game plan and we are going there to make it work."

Boss Dean Wilkins is planning to make the most of the verbal gift from Martinez. "We will certainly use it," he said. "I suppose it is cheeky in some ways.

"We are aware of what their strengths and weaknesses are and we are concentrating on what we want to do to get three points.

"It will be a real test. Swansea have been consistent all through the season but our away form has also been consistent, so we don't go there with any real fears.

"We are approaching the game in a positive manner to try to get the win we want."

Cox was on target when Albion beat Swansea 3-2 at Withdean in December.

"That was probably the best goal I have scored for Brighton, 30 yards into the top corner," he said. "Another one of them will do. Hopefully it happens again.

"There are three games left and we want to win all three."
