AN AIRPORT can be a pretty stressful time during the summer getaway but bosses at Gatwick hope their happy meals will put a smile on passengers’ faces.
The Sussex airport has announced that its restaurants have teamed up with a nutritionist to serve special meals packed with serotonin in a bid to boost passengers’ mood.
Eight restaurants and cafes in both the airport’s north and south terminals will be serving the smile inducing snacks which will be indicated by an emoji smiling face.
Happy dishes include a salmon citrus salad at Frankie & Benny’s packed full of omega 3 fats and brain cell growing B vitamins, a California sushi salad at Giraffe with slow-release carbohydrates rice and glucose-releasing fish and a falafel and fattoush salad at Comptoir which nutritionists say helps prevent fluctuations in blood sugar levels.
The special meals, created in partnership with top nutritionist Jo Travers, will be available throughout August.
