A woman was kidnapped in her own car before being robbed and sexually assaulted.

She was sitting in the driver's seat at 10.30pm when two men got into the car and told her to drive away.

An unconfirmed amount of cash was taken from her purse and she was assaulted for half an hour somewhere between Broadwater Way and Golden Jubilee Way, Eastbourne.

Police are calling for witnesses to trace the men.

Inspector Ian Williams said: "This was a highly unusual and isolated incident that we are treating extremely seriously.

"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area or who may know these men to come forward. We can protect your identity and any information, no matter how trivial you think it may be, could be of use to the investigation team."

One male is described as Asian, of medium build, aged between 30 and 40 and about 5ft 6in tall. He had short dark hair with a fringe and spoke with a southern or London accent.

The incident happened on Friday, April 20 but police have only released the details today.
