A GARAGE sale trail will take place on Saturday.

The event is billed as a "sustainable and fun way to declutter" as well as search for treasure, meet neighbours and raise money for charity.

Businesses, community groups and residents can register to host a sale in Brighton and Hove, and bargain hunters can follow a trail to pick up second hand and new items.

So far 31 sales have registered in the city so far, including at Presuming Ed’s Fantastic Phantasmagoria, London Road.

The event was organised by Darryl Nichols and Andrew Valder along with local organiser Cat Fletcher from Brighton Freegle. The idea was born in 2010 in Australia.

Mayor of Brighton and Hove Lynda Hyde also attended a launch event on Tuesday.

Mr Nichols said: “One garage saler in Australia described it as a friendly interactive way of moving stuff on, not to landfill, but to people who want it and love it.

“It’s now a huge, and much-loved, fun and fundraising event that happens annually.”
