A MOTORCYCLIST has died after crashing with three parked cars.

Toby Gasson had been asked to stop by police shortly before the collision in Hastings at 8.50pm on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, of Eversley Road, St Leonards, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A police spokesman said he was not being pursued or in sight of a police vehicle at the time the accident occurred in Whitefriars Road at the junction of Emmanuel Road.

Sergeant Richard Hornsey, of the Sussex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "There has been a lot of unhelpful social media speculation about the events that led up to this tragic incident. “A family liaison officer is supporting Toby's family and providing them with factual information regarding the progress of the investigation.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and can help us with our investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting Op Esher."

Mr Gasson worked as a barista at Kino Teatr in St Leonards, which will close today as a mark of respect in his memory.

The cinema’s Facebook page said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Toby was a very special person, with great sense of humour and dedication to the Kino-Teatr team. Tragic loss of a promising young life. RIP.”
