CRIME-WRITER Peter James swapped his pen for a pair of scissors as he cut the ribbon for a care home’s official opening ceremony.

The best-selling author was one of the guests at Lindridge care home in Laburnham Avenue, Hove, which is run by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust took over the former Neville Hospital and Downs Nursing Home site in 2011 and has transformed the site, which now houses the home and a hospital ward.

Guests were treated to refreshments in the cafe, where they were surrounded by works of art created by care home residents.

The event culminated in the unveiling of a plaque by Brighton and Hove mayor Lynda Hyde.

Lindridge is made up of four flats and 68 private rooms and offers a range of care options for people needing physical and dementia healthcare.

General Manager for care home services at Sussex Partnership, Sue Turner, said: “Our team understand and acknowledge the frustrations which come with poor health for residents and their families, and are passionate about the rights of those within our care to experience the best that life can be within the challenges of diminishing health and mental health.”
