A MAN has been jailed for 28 weeks after being found guilty of numerous theft and motoring offences.
Iqubal Khan, 32, of Lismore Crescent, Broadfield, Crawley, denied driving without a licence and insurance between September 30 and October 10, 2014, in Crawley Avenue and stealing food worth £44.30 from Sainsbury's supermarket in Crawley Avenue on September 1 last year.
He also denied two counts of making off without paying for fuel, at Morrisons petrol station on September 30, 2014, and from Sainsbury's petrol station, both in Crawley, on October 10, 2014.
But he was found guilty by Brighton magistrates and sentenced.
Khan was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay costs of £215.
PC Jim Lee said: "This sentence sends out the message that you can still be sent to prison for these kinds of offences. We will not tolerate these acquisitive crimes, which impact businesses and the community."
