A MAN was seriously injured when his car left the road and crashed into a wall and some street furniture.

Emergency services were called to the scene off the A29 Shripney Road near the junction with Shripney Lane on the outskirts of Bognor at 12.21am on Sunday.

The silver BMW 318i had rebounded to a stop in the carriageway and was left smoking.

Two men were released and fire crews were called to extinguished a small fire in the car.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Bognor, was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester for treatment for head and shoulder injuries.

A 23-year-old man, also from Bognor, who was a passenger in the car, was treated in hospital for minor injuries. Both men have been discharged.

Police want to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have seen the silver BMW in the area in the time leading up to the incident.
