THE FIRE service was called to attend reports a person had fallen out of bed.
A worried member of the public dialled 999 and asked for the fire department, but the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service advised them it would make more sense for them to call the ambulance.
The incident occurred in Manor Way, Uckfield, at 3pm yesterday and the firefighters decided not to attend.
A spokeswoman said: “Somebody contacted us regarding someone falling out of bed.
“I do think sometimes we get a bit of cross-over because people don’t want to call the ambulance.
“We’re the helpful fire-fighters.
“We advised the caller they’d be better off ringing the ambulance.”
The South East Coast Ambulance Service told The Argus it would not comment on calls out to private addresses.
