FIREFIGHTERS have been rewarded for putting themselves in harm’s way for the good of the county for more than 20 years.
Thirteen firefighters and three support staff were honoured with Long Service and Good Conduct medals at Arundel Castle.
Susan Pyper, the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, presented the medals at a special ceremony on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen to full time and retained firefighters who have completed two decades of outstanding service to their community.
Roger Gumbrill and Andrew Packham from Worthing Fire Station were among the staff decorated on the night along with colleagues based at Chichester, Petworth, East Grinstead and Crawley.
