THE son of a man who who was killed in the Shoreham Airshow disaster is to do a charity bungee jump in his memory.

Luke Reeves will face his fear of heights to leap 300 feet over water - completing one of his father Mark Reeves' ambitions.

The 27-year-old said: "My dad did sky-diving for charity and he abseiled down a building to raise money for cancer research.

"This bungee jump was something he always said he was going to do, and so we are going to do it in his memory."

Mark Reeves was killed along with ten other Sussex men when a vintage jet crashed into the A27 on August 22.

The 53-year-old had parked his motorbike to watch the Hawker Hunter display from the side of the road.

His son originally set a target of raising £409.61 - his father's birthday - for Cancer Research UK.

However he has already raised £604.61 and hopes that figure will rise ahead of his jump on Sunday (October 18).

He said: "I don't like heights. Dad was a bit of a thrill seeker. He always did the scary rides."

He added: "He was just a great father and grandfather. He did everything he could for us."

The 28-year-old, who lives in Redhill, added he might wear his father's Manchester United t-shirt to complete the leap over the Bray Lake, Windsor.

His father had moved to Seaford with his wife Wendy about nine years ago, drawn by a love of sea and the sun.

The grandfather-of-three's funeral took place at St Andrew’s Church in Alfriston, near Seaford, on Friday September 18.

Seventeen bikers on their Honda Goldwings led a procession for the motorbike-lover from his home to the church, where they joined more than 150 mourners.

His nephew, Oliver Morriss, 18, said after the ceremony, “He was one of those people who people wanted to be around, because nothing was ever too much for him. He was a real family man."
