HOVE has traditionally been seen as the small c conservative part of the city.

But that is simply not the case any more.

In the last week I've helped open three fantastic enterprises - all reflecting the vibrancy of my constituency.

It's such a privilege to be there at the moment a new business is celebrated. Vast amounts of work goes into getting to the start line - the idea, the funding, the property, the staff. It's such a labour of love and yet we all benefit.

In Portland Road I cut my first ribbon as your MP. It was to mark the opening of the Brighton and Hove Salt Cave, a treatment centre for people with a wide verity of lung, breathing, and skin conditions.

Also in Portland Road, just past The Stoneham Pub, is a very old public toilet. Not any more. Now it's a stunning architectural design studio called Studio Loo.

And on Thursday I got to toast the opening of our latest wine bar - what can I say, every job has its perks. It's called Fourth & Church and it's just opposite Hove Town Hall. Very close to my office too.

All of these people are bringing new places for us to visit, to eat and drink, to be healthy, and live in a better designed and eco-friendly places, right into our community. I know this doesn't happen by accident, it happens because people work really hard to make dreams a reality.

I find their energy and optimism a total inspiration and I wish them every success possible going forward.
