Firefighters had to cut two passengers from a car where they were trapped following a six-vehicle smash.
The pair were carried from the car with suspected back, chest and neck injuries following the accident near the Highdown Hotel on the A259 in Goring, near Worthing, at 12.30pm today.
They and another passenger in the same car were taken by ambulance to Worthing General Hospital. South East Coast Ambulance service said none of the occupants of the other vehicles in the collision had been seriously injured.
Three fire crews were called to the crash. They cut the doors and roof off the car to enable medics to reach the injured passengers without worsening their condition.
Sussex Police closed the eastbound carriageway of the road for an hour while the vehicles were moved.
