I agree wholeheartedly with Louise Markanday concerning mixed-sex wards.
From my point of view, it is embarrassing and undignified to have to share a ward with the opposite sex.
When one is feeling at his or her most vulnerable, I believe it is the last thing most people would want to endure.
I have experienced this twice and I hope I am not in this situ-ation again. It certainly did nothing to aid my recovery. In fact, I felt distressed and anxious the whole time.
The sooner mixed wards are abolished, the better. I hope we won't have to put up with them for much longer.
