Simon Burgess must be having a laugh (The Argus, May 16). The reason he and other members lost out at the local elections is because of the money-grabbing council.
They called in expensive consultants to do jobs that should have been done by council personnel with knowledge of local needs.
When I go around Brighton I now see pay-and-display where double yellow lines were, which goes to show there was no need for double yellow lines there in the first place.
The traffic system in Brighton is a shambles.
Another thing which is an utter disgrace is the office opening times for tradesmen's parking permits.
Not all tradesmen can get a permit the day before and when the office opens at 9am there is a queue of them, all having to park on double yellow lines. Most trades start at 7am, not 9am.
