Reading the report on the city Tower block plan being refused (The Argus, May 17) I could not believe the reasons given.
If such a building would damage the character of a very old, urban semi-industrial area, how much more are these reasons relevant to the seafront sites of Brighton Marina and the King Alfred, where the massive buildings will stick out over the horizon like the proverbial sore thumb.
I believe the Green Party voted for both these developments. It appears urban lanscapes are considered more worthy of protection than the beautiful seafront - and green doesn't seem to come into it.
I wonder what true justification our city planners can give for their actions. Personally I dislike all high-rise buildings, having once lived in Chartwell Court in the shadow of Sussex Heights.
