A DOUBLE Oscar-winning actress is set to resume her love affair with Sussex after reportedly buying a £3 million Victorian country house.

Cate Blanchett has bought the former home of Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Doctor Who actor Tom Baker for more than £3 million, according to reports in The Sunday Times.

The Carol star previously owned a mansion in Lewes Cresent in Brighton back in the 2000s and is now set to have a Sussex postcode again in her list of homes with the purchase of Highwell House in Crowborough.

The seven-bedroom home, built in 1890 and originally named Higher Steep, also has five reception rooms, a lookout room in the house’s castle-like turret and rooms for staff.

The Australian-born actress, who has again been nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Carol, famously had Lewes Crescent closed off to have her new bath delivered when she first moved to Sussex from London.

She will be just 60 miles away from fellow Oscar nominee Kate Winslet who owns a seafront home in West Wittering.
