A Volkswagen camper van was destroyed in an arson attack.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended in the scene in Upper Drive, Hove, at 9.09pm last night.
Two firefighters using breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.
Investigations found the fire had been started deliberately and fire crews left the scene at 9.51am.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Officers are investigating the cause of a vehicle fire in Hove.
"At about 9.10pm on Monday (8 February), police were called by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to a blaze involving a camper van in Upper Drive, Hove.
"The cause of the fire remains unclear at this stage.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 1766 of February 8."
