The future of musical theatre is looking strong if the standard of this production of High School Musical is anything to go by.

A riot of colour, noise and energy from the beginning, it’s a great night out for the family.

Apollo Productions is a new amateur company in Sussex, with a range of young performers from 12 upwards.

The Disney hit musical is a great choice for the company to showcase their outstanding skills – these kids really can sing and dance.

A High School romance between a basketball jock and a shy maths geek is backed up with some great songs any fan of the original film will know and love.

This may not be a professional production but it’s hard to fault. The large cast of more than 30 are all pitch perfect and the choreography is exciting and vibrant to watch.

Troy, played Jack Ambrose and Gabriella, played by Georgia Winstaneley are perfect as the love-struck couple both with powerful and sweet voices.

But just like the film, the star of the show is Sharpay played with wit and verve by Keziah Israel and her brother, Ryan played by Jimmy Chambers as her dippy sidekick.
