SUSSEX artist Elizabeth Lamont has been commissioned to make five glowing class creations to link to the Nymans collection.
The five backlit layers of swirling glass will be displayed in the stately home’s family rooms alongside the treasures which inspired them.
They are the result of several weeks exploring Nymans’ history, combining both traditional and contemporary approaches to stained glass.
“My discoveries have revealed intriguing background details and exciting connections between the lives, passions and creative achievements of the Messel family,” says Lamont. “ I have really enjoyed meeting the challenges of interpreting my ideas in glass and it will be a great privilege to have my work amidst the collection within Nymans house for the exhibition.”
