A FAST-FOOD outlet has introduced a table service for those who want their burger and fries delivered to the table after ordering at a computer.

The McDonald’s restaurant in Portfield Way, Chichester, is the first Sussex outlet in the country to unveil the new style of catering.

As we reported last month, the chain planned to turn more than 40 years of tradition on its head by introducing waiters and waitresses.

Last week it re-opened and now has the option for customers to have their food delivered direct to their table.

Local franchisee Grant Copper said: “From mums coming in with their kids, to people having a working lunch, I expect the feedback to be positive.”

The big changes focus on giving customers more choice in ordering and paying, adapting how food is prepared and served and creating a new environment.

With table service, customers will order from new digital kiosks before the food arrives at their table.

However, the restaurant will still offer the option of ordering and receiving food at the till.

McDonald's said the change was part of its evolution and that further changes could see customers ordering and paying by smartphone.
