A TEENAGER will appear in court facing a string of driving charges.
Ben Clark, 19, of Birdham Road, Brighton, has been charged with failing to stop for a police officer, failing to comply with a red traffic light, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He has been released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on April 4.
A police spokesman said: “Police spotted a Ford Ka at 4.25pm on Sunday being driven along Lewes Road by a driver who they suspected of having no insurance or licence.
"When they signalled for the car to stop, it failed to do so and after a short pursuit the car stopped in Birdham Road and the driver and passenger made off. They were arrested nearby.”
An 18-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was detained on suspicion of allowing a car to be used without insurance and resisting arrest.
A 40-year-old Brighton woman was arrested for assaulting an officer.
They were both later released without charge.
