A STRETCH of one of the county's busiest roads was closed after a car struck a lamppost.
The accident happened on the eastbound A27 between the Ashcombe roundabout and the Southerham roundabout near Lewes.
Emergency services were called just before 10am.
The road was closed for more than three hours while emergency repairs are made for safety reasons.
There is no update as to how serious the injuries are to those travelling in the car.
The road was reopened at around 1pm.
