YOGIS hope to show more Brightonians than ever the physical and mental health benefits of the practice in a growing festival returning this summer.

The Brighton Yoga Festival 2016 will be bigger than ever this year, taking place at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange rather than its previous home in St George's Church.

The free day of yoga and yoga- related activities, on Saturday July 23, will include classes, talks, workshops, demonstrations, meditation sessions, therapies and nutrition advice.

There will also be yoga classes especially suited to beginners and to children, pregnancy yoga, yoga for runners, yoga and mindfulness plus other specialisms.

Festival founder and chair of trustees Davy Jones said: "Whatever people's age, level of fitness or experience, and whether they've ever tried yoga before or not, there will be free yoga for everyone.

"And that includes people who've been practicing yoga for a long time and fancy trying a different discipline or approach."

The festival is sponsored by yoga kit supplier Crystal and Rox, among others, and the Real Junk Food Project will be among the stalls and activities.

The Brighton Yoga Festival has now been awarded charity status, and trustees say it will continue to encourage people to take up the practice throughout the year.
