IT was a case of same old, same old, for passengers using the new rolling stock on the maiden Thameslink service this morning.

Whilst they may have been sat on a brand new train with more space for standing, the punctuality of the service left much to be desired.

The 10.02 departed Brighton railway station two minutes late, didn’t stop at Balcombe as scheduled and arrived into London Bridge 16 minutes late.

But the silver lining was the train does have wider doors, bigger walkways and improved passenger information screens.

The new class 700 rolling stock will be introduced on the Brighton to Bedford line, replacing much of the older rolling stock some of which dates back three decades.
