PROTESTERS are due to gather at Brighton station tonight to ramp up their anger over the state of the railway network.

Last week around 100 passengers staged a demonstration over the Southern Railway franchise due to ongoing cancelations and late running trains.

The event is due to take place at 6.30pm.

It comes as members of the RMT are due to stage a 24-hour walk out on Tuesday in a continued dispute around the role of guards.

A statement on the organiser’s Facebook page says: “This is the second protest organised by us, everyday commuters.

“We are tired, frustrated and angry at what we believe is unjust and unparalleled disruption caused ostensibly by Southern Rail and its parent company. Govia – in collusion with the DfT.

“We don’t know the ins and outs. We aren’t experts in industrial relations. We do, however, experience this commuter hell on daily basis.

“People are losing their jobs, relationships are being ruined and hardworking people – who just want to get to work or go home to see their children – are being denied this on a daily basis.

“We think this should stop, immediately. We are now at the end of the 7th week of what we all now believe is a commuting nightmare – with no end in sight.

“We are forced to pay thousands of pounds each year for cancelled and delayed trains, dangerous conditions with nothing but lies, deceit and excuses thrown back at us.

“This can’t go on.

“So, join the protest. It’s just to make our voice heard. We are merely pawns in corporate skulduggery – now’s the time to stand and be heard!”
