GREEN MP Caroline Lucas has dismissed suggestions she is set to join Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet.
The Brighton Pavilion MP's team has issued a statement on her behalf responding to claims that she is set to join the Labour Party's shadow cabinet as shadow secretary for energy and climate change.
Under-fire Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been forced to fill more than half his shadow cabinet posts following a set of mass resignations over his handling of the EU Remain campaign.
A spokesman for Ms Lucas said: “There is no truth in rumours that Caroline has been offered a position in the shadow cabinet.
"She remains committed to working with other parties to achieve shared goals.
"In particular she is keen to talk with other parties about the prospect of an electoral pact to beat the Tories in an early General Election, but any suggestion that she is set to join the Shadow Cabinet is incorrect.
“While others parties are falling apart Caroline is going the job she was elected to do: standing up to the Government and presenting real alternatives.
"This is an extremely challenging time for the country and progressives would do well to remember that while they fight each other the Government isn’t held to account."
