SCHOOLCHILDREN were given hints and tips on water-saving techniques with the help of a fictional family called the Drips.

Pupils at Hangleton Primary School were joined by Hove MP Peter Kyle and Brighton and Hove councillors Dawn Barnett and Tony Janio to watch a special event organised by Southern Water.

The play - Are you a Drip? - uses a mix of mime, masks and comedy to teach children the importance of using water wisely and how they can help to prevent sewer blockages.

The play is performed by the Facepack Theatre company, which tours schools across the region.

Mr Kyle said: “I have been to the Peacehaven treatment works and seen first hand the trouble caused by wet wipes and other things being flushed away.

“This show is a great opportunity to get that message across to the next generation and to teach them how to use water wisely.

“I’m very pleased that Southern Water is investing in this educational programme and doing it in such an entertaining way.”

The Drips show children simple ways they can help to save water at home, such as turning off the tap when brushing their teeth and taking a shower instead of a bath.
