POLICE hope that players of an online game may help to track down the burglars of a petrol station.

Sussex Police have appealed to Pokemon Go players who may have witnessed a break-in at a Tesco garage in New Road, Durrington, in the early hours of Saturday to come forward.

Crime scene investigator Chris Gee said CCTV footage shows a high number of cars in the area at around the time of the burglary at 12.50am and believes the traffic build-up could be because the nearby Durrington Community Centre is a Pokemon stop.

The augmented reality game, which uses the phone's GPS location data to allow players to roam the real world and catch virtual monsters, has become a huge hit since its launch in the UK this week.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.
