LIBRARIANS might have to rely on a little bit of magic to help meet demand for the latest Harry Potter release.

Dozens of copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have been ordered in by libraries across the county since its release at the end of last month.

But that is being outstripped by demand with reservations outnumbering copies available by about five-to-one.

And fans might also need special spectacles to find the book, which is a script of the sell-out play, as it is being stocked by some councils in the adult non-fiction rather than the children's fiction section.

The book has already sold four million copies in its first week in the UK, US and Canada and is the biggest selling playscript since records began.

The play's run at the Palace Theatre has now been extended until December next year.

West Sussex County Council West Sussex said they had 11 copies in stock with 56 requests to date.

East Sussex County Council said it was still awaiting its delivery of four copies and had had 19 requests which fell within their policy to order one copy per five reservations.

J.K. Rowling doesn't quite have the appeal of local favourite Peter James with 20 Love You Dead copies already in libraries, 107 current reservations, and another 24 paperback copies on order for its release in October.

Brighton and Hove City Council already stocks 17 copies of The Cursed Child with a further 11 on order with just 12 reservations currently submitted.
