BRIGHTON beach will be awash with burkinis today as campaigners protest against the treatment of Muslim women on French beaches.
Campaigners have organised a burkini ban solidarity event on Brighton beach tomorrow morning from 11am close to the Volk's kiosk in Madeira Drive.
Organisers say the event is an an act of solidarity with French Muslim women to demonstrate outrage at the criminalisation of female swimwear. Fifteen French towns have banned the burkini in recent weeks while shocking images of police officers insisting on the removal of clothing has travelled around the world.
Participants are being encouraged to come to the beach from 10.45am wearing a burkini or leggings, long sleeved top and headscarf with placards or banners also optional.
