FIVE people have been arrested after police swooped on suspected drug dealers in a town centre park.

Officers seized a quantity of cocaine and cannabis along with a large quantity of cash after detained the three men and two boys on suspicion of supplying drugs.

The arrests were made as part of a pre-planned operation at the Memorial Gardens in Crawley town centre on Monday (September 26).

The three men aged 23, 20, and 19 and two boys aged 16 and 17 were interviewed and later bailed pending further police enquiries into those suspected offences.

A large knife was confiscated from one of those arrested, and another was found to have breached his court bail over a separate matter and was kept in custody to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court.

Chief Inspector Dave Padwick, of Sussex Police, said: "This operation was part of our work, with partners, aimed at curbing the distribution of illegal drugs in our town.

"We continue to gather intelligence, much of which comes from the local community, and will act on it to disrupt the supply and distribution of drugs."
