Train operator Southern have announced plans to add additional services during the next set of strikes by members of the RMT.

Later services will operate on the Brighton to Eastbourne line and between London Bridge and East Grinstead.

For the first time buses will operate between Hastings, St Leonards Warrior Square and Bexhill. There will also be buses all day between Ashford International and Hastings.

Passengers will also be able to use buses at peak times connecting Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough and Eridge with Haywards Heath and Tunbridge Wells, for rail connections to/from London.

The first set of five strikes by conductors who are members of the RMT are set to start on Tuesday October 11.

The union have announced five batches of strike dates totalling 14 days.

They are:

  • Tuesday October 11 to Thursday October 13
  • Tuesday October 18 to Thursday October 20
  • Thursday November 3 to Saturday November 5 
  • Tuesday November 22 and Wednesday November 23
  • Tuesday December 6 to Thursday December 8

A Southern spokesman said: “We are still confirming details of these improvements. We are also continuing to work to add even more services. Details of all services will be updated below as soon as they are available.”

As yet no updates have been given on possible services on Saturday November 5.
