LAST night viewers had a chance to see a star Brighton chef in the first day of the Great British Menu final.

Michael Bremner, the owner and head chef of 64 Degrees in Meeting House Lane is in the last stage of the BBC Two show. The winner has the chance to cook a banquet in the House of Commons for the Queen.

He wowed the judges when he got ten out of ten across the board for his fish dish and come out top to represent his native Scotland by impressing judges, the Michelin starred chef Daniel Clifford and food critic Matthew Fort.

He was overshadowed a little last night for his starter but much is expected of him for his other dishes this week.

Michael said Northern Ireland's Mark Abbott's potato dish last night was incredible.

Michael has been at the helm of 64 Degrees since 2013. He previously worked in the old Due South restaurant in the King’s Road Arches and Food for Friends, in Prince Albert Street. Before moving to the city he was at the celebrated Pittodrie House near Aberdeen.

The Great British Menu final is on at 7pm each weekday evening this week.
